want the easiest appetizer of all time? well, besides store-bought hummus. this is a quick, delicious, melty, indulgent appetizer with only three ingredients: brie, almonds, and butter.
served with either slices of french bread or crackers, the recipe is great to have in your back pocket!
melted brie with almonds
- one round brie, with the rind
- 1/2 c. sliced almonds
- 1 Tbsp. butter
in a small saucepan, melt the butter on medium. when the butter starts to froth and bubble, toss in the almonds. stir and cook until golden brown — about 2 to 4 minutes. keep a watchful eye because they can burn quickly.
meanwhile, place the entire round of brie onto a fairly large microwave safe plate (choose one that you’ll serve the appetizer on). microwave the brie on high for 45 to 60 seconds. watch it and make sure it does not burst. do not poke any holes in the brie before you microwave because it will all ooze out during heating.
once the brie is warm and soft in the middle, remove from the microwave and pour the warm butter/almond mixture over the top of the brie.
serve with crackers or bread!
… and wine, of course!
