sweet, savory bite

i really like cheese.

i mean… i really like cheese.

especially melted cheese.

especially with something crunchy.

i could never be a vegan.

i always bookmark tasty lil recipes i find on tasteologie or from food network. a few weeks ago, i found this delightful treat: brie & walnut bites. last night i threw them together for my parents and me before dinner (steak sandwiches & brussel sprouts with bacon). the base is phyllo pastry cups that you can buy ready-made from the grocery (or make yourself painstakingly) which gives it a satisfying crunch. the brie is melted inside the little cup and then topped off with toasted walnuts & honey. only four ingredients! easy, quick, painless.

brie & walnut bites

ingredients

  • 1 package phyllo shells
  • 1/2 lb. brie cheese
  • 1/4 c. walnuts, toasted & chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. honey

 

directions

preheat the oven to 350 F. remove the phyllo shells from their packaging and place them on a baking sheet.

spoon about a teaspoon of brie into each shell. place them in the oven for about 5 or 6 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the shells are warmed through.

remove the shells from the oven and sprinkle with the walnuts. place the shells onto a platter & drizzle with honey.

serve hot!
